About the artist

Growing up in British Columbia, Canada, Diane has always drawn inspiration from the patterns, colours, and textures found in nature, though her artistic vision consistently leans toward abstraction. Her practice is rooted in experimentation, creating a new visual language by transforming materials—combining glass paint, acrylic, or oil with unexpected substances. The process embraces chance: surfaces interact unpredictably with elements such as repetitive motion and heat, allowing the medium to guide the outcome. Each piece becomes a singular expression, impossible to duplicate

Diane studied Fashion Illustration and International Fashion Marketing at Blanche McDonald Centre, and has studied drawing and painting at Emily Carr University, OCAD, the University of Toronto and master classes with Hester Berry.

“I believe art and good design are important in life, and can shape our surroundings in meaningful ways”.

I love exploring different surfaces to paint on and continuously experiment by combining paint with a variety of materials and substances. By incorporating elements such as repetitive motion, water, and heat, the paint and object all interact in shaping the work. In many ways, the paint and surface take on a life of their own, guiding the creative process. This unpredictable collaboration ensures that each piece is truly one of a kind.

My journey into glass painting began years ago while researching European glass painting. I was drawn to its beauty and the potential to work with glass. Since then, I’have been pushing the limits of the medium, mixing glass paint with both natural and synthetic elements to create rich, impasto-like textures. Each piece begins with a carefully chosen, one-of-a-kind glass vessel, making every work truly unique. My inspiration comes from my surroundings - whether it’s the patterns of nature, the elegance of fashion, or the structures of architecture and design - all of which find their way into my art.
